IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Ann
Williams
October 11, 1962 – April 29, 2024
The fourth of seven children, Elizabeth Ann Williams was born on October 11,1962 in Sasser, GA, to Mary Williams and the late Clemon Marshall. She is preceded in death by her sisters Jessie Pearl Williams and Geraldine Tumblin.
Elizabeth spent her formative years in Sasser, GA, and excelled at every level of her education. She graduated from Terrell High School in 1981. She began her higher education at Albany State University (ASU) in Albany, GA, where she earned a B.S. in Office Administration with a concentration in General Management in 1986. Elizabeth was an advocate for underrepresented groups pursuing degrees in higher education. She always believed that individuals desiring to obtain a college education should have an opportunity regardless of their economic background. Due to this passion, Elizabeth decided to take a position as a development researcher and assistant to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at ASU. While serving in this role, she went on to pursue her Master of Public Administration with a concentration in General Management, which she completed in 2003. As a graduate student at ASU, Elizabeth was very active in several organizations and societies such as the Toastmasters, Public Administration Student Association, and Pi Alpha Honor Society. After completing her Master's, Elizabeth accepted a position as an Administrative Specialist and Coordinator in the Office of Institutional Advancement at ASU. In this role, Elizabeth was responsible for cultivating and managing relationships to enhance the academic vision and priorities of the university. Due to her dedication in this field, she continued working in higher education for more than 27 years. Her innovative spirit and vision added enormous value to ASU. She retired from ASU in 2015. She is a RAM for life, and her legacy will continue to live on at ASU.
Elizabeth's love for higher education and her profession was exceeded by her love for the Lord. Elizabeth joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member. She particularly enjoyed singing in the church choir. One of her favorite songs was "I'm climbing a higher mountain." She also served as the church secretary for several years until her health precluded it. Her beautiful voice and love for the Lord touched and inspired many. Her church family was truly family to her as evidenced by the lasting relationships she formed.
What provided Elizabeth the most joy, however, was spending time with her family and friends. Whether it was shopping, watching a movie, or catching a bite to eat, she loved spending time with those she loved. Her nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her "Auntie Liz", were her pride and joy.
Elizabeth is survived by her mother, Mary Louise Williams; her brothers, Alberdine Williams (Rossie), Matthew Williams (Felicia), Tracy Williams (Sherra), and Gregory Williams (LaToya); and host of other family members including aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her role as a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend is lovingly emphasized, sharing qualities of humility, compassion, strength, unconditional love, and nobleness that extended beyond her immediate family to all she encountered. She will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her.
