Life's Legacy

The second of five children, MARY LOUISE WILLIAMS was born on May 1, 1935, in Albany, GA, to the late Pearly Mae Givens and the late Leroy Williams. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Jessie Pearl Williams, Geraldine Tumblin, and Elizabeth Ann Williams, and special nephew, Jack Talyor whom she raised as her own.

Mary spent her formative years in Terrell County where she attended Corner Grove School. A devoted follower of Christ, Mary joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member. Mary's greatest love was her family. She was a devoted and proud mother of seven children. As a mother, Mary raised children in the ways of the Lord, teaching them to love, to serve, and to trust in Him always. She worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their children. Her home was always open to family and friends with hospitality, warmth, and love. In addition to being a dedicated and loving matriarch of her family, Mary loved working in her garden, watching western TV shows, cooking for her family, and supporting her church.

Mary was also a devoted grandmother and a pillar of strength for her family. Her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Granny," were the lights of her life. She cared for her grandchildren with unwavering love, support, and patience. She instilled in them a strong work ethic, the importance of family, and the need to put God first. Many cherished memories were made during summer breaks and holidays where Granny would cook delicious sweet treats and share funny stories with her children and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her children, Alberdine Williams (Rossie), Matthew Williams (Felicia), Tracy Williams (Sherra), and Gregory Williams (LaToya); sisters, Gladys Houston and Marie Tyson; and host of other family members including her cherished 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was the heart of her family, always there to listen, offer help, and provide unwavering support. Her strength was an inspiration to all that knew her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in our hearts forever. She was a true blessing to her family and will be deeply missed.
