“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11, NLT
Bennie Lee Lakes was born in Albany, Georgia on July 26, 1938, to the late Nathaniel and Charlie Will Lakes.
Though born with a disability, Bennie overcame the odds and lived a happy, healthy life. He had a kind and caring spirit that he shared with everyone. He was a member of Greater 2nd Mt Olive Baptist Church. You could many times find him listening to or singing his favorite church hymn or making sure to get the mail from the mailbox. His sweet spirit was infectious and put smiles on all he knew.
He was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Pruitt Health Palmyra Nursing Home.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Lakes of Henrico, VA; niece, Carlisse (Ronnie) Davis of Toano, VA, along with many cousins, relatives and close family friends who loved him dearly.
