Sister Virginia Wheeler Jackson,was born to the late Rev. C.J. and Clemmon Wheeler, in Mitchell County, on June 15, 1929. At an early age, Virginia Jackson confessed Christ and joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Greenough Community, where she served for over 50 years. Ministries that she served on were Senior Mission, Senior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, secretary, Deaconess Board, and union meetings. She quietly departed this life on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, in Albany, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon K.J. Jackson; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Wheeler; five brothers, Cleophis Wheeler, Horace Wheeler, Eugene Wheeler, J.C. Wheeler, and Willie B. Wheeler; and two sisters, Geraldine Williams and Resa W. Gilbert. She leaves to cherish her memories: six children, Joann (Dallas) Gary, Horace (the late Mary Jane) Jackson, Matthew (Charlene) Jackson, Jerome (Lois) Jackson, Ormie James (Charlyne) Jackson, all of Camilla, Georgia, and Ricky (Jean) Jackson of Valdosta, Georgia; two sisters, Ruthie Lee Thomas of Albany, Georgia, and Verdell Wadley of New Jersey; twenty-two grandchildren; fortyfour great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Viola Wheeler; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
